Born in Taiwan, and educated in the US, Alan has a very unique and in-depth understanding of both sides of the Pacific and beyond. As a vested partner, creative/program director, and founder of his first club at the tender age of just 21, he has been a highly influential force in the EDM scene since before the acronym was coined.
Since co-founding theLOOP Inc. in Taipei in 2001, Alan has been instrumental in the development of the electronic dance music scene in Taiwan, booking over 400 major A-list acts from around the world and producing over 40 large scale music festivals. The success of locally produced events, which consistently attracted over 10,000 attendees, resulted in theLOOP forming long-standing and successful relationships with such international organisations as ID&T, Godskitchen, Global Underground, JTI, Heineken, and Diageo, among others.
This year, after leveraging more than 15 years of entertainment and music experience, theLOOP created LOOPTOPIA Music Festival, which debuted in Taoyuan, Taiwan on April 2017 to over 32,000 attendees. The two day event was the first of its kind in Asia, featuring 50 international and local electronic artists, three world class stages, interactive art installations, camping, barbecue, and cabins, to name a few. LOOPTOPIA created a new landmark for international music festivals in Asia and has subsequently written a new chapter in Taiwan’s EDM history .
In addition, under his direction, theLOOP has created/co-founded seven big scale nightlife establishments in three cities across two countries. The latest two ventures in Taipei, OMNI and KOR, have further elevated the standard of what a nightclub and bar lounge can be, respectively. Less than one year after opening, both establishments have gone on to win numerous design awards. OMNI has scooped no less than eight design awards including the prestigious iF Design Award in 2016 and the 2017 Red Dot Best of the Best Award, and KOR has recently been awarded the 2017 iF Design Award, becoming the first bar in Asia to be awarded the accolade.
“I am honoured to be given the opportunity to speak at IMS Asia-Pacific for the second time in three years. I look forward to seeing some familiar faces and also to discuss the future of music for the Asia – Pacific region.”
